Pre-draft dynasty rookie tiers

The NFL Draft is nearly upon us. This is one of the most exciting times of the year for diehard dynasty players, as months of personal scouting and speculation are about to culminate. This is the last chance that owners have to set their own personal boards without the bias of NFL draft position and team landing spot.

As I’ve written before, I think it is important to create rankings at different parts of the draft process, and these pre-draft rankings are probably the most important. I find that using tiered rankings is particularly helpful at this juncture, as it makes it easier to choose between similar players once they are drafted. Below are my first four tiers, with more to follow leading up to the draft.

Player Pos. Age College
Ezekiel Elliot RB 20 Ohio State

While owners of the 1.01 in 2015 rookie drafts had a tough decision to make between a blue-chip running back and receiver in Todd Gurley and Amari Cooper, this year should be much less stressful come draft night. Regardless of your feelings on Laquon Treadwell as the best receiver, it has become clear throughout the draft process that Ezekiel Elliot is much closer to Gurley as a prospect than any receiver in this class is to Cooper.
