Falcons: Discovering their pass rush

PFF-headlinesAfter a season-long struggle to get after the quarterback, the Atlanta Falcons put together their best defensive performance last week. Osi Umenyiora and Kroy Biermann played key roles and finished Week 10 the No. 1 and No.2 4-3 Defensive Ends in Pass Rushing Productivity.

Umenyiora (+3.0) built off his solid performance in Week 8 against Detroit with nine total pressures (four hurries, three hits, and two sacks) in 29 pass rush snaps for a Pass Rushing Productivity of 25.0%.

Biermann (+6.6) also tallied nine total pressures (six hurries and three sacks) in 29 pass rush snaps for a Pass Rushing Productivity of 23.4% en route to his first pass rushing grade of the season in the green (+5.7).

The Falcons now face a Carolina Panthers offensive line that allowed 27 total pressures against the Eagles in Week 10. Starting tackles Nate Chandler and Byron Bell are a combined 44.0 in overall PFF grade and -35.8 in Pass Blocking for the season.
