A few years ago I was a naysayer. “Those daily fantasy games will never catch on,” said Jeff in 2011. Well, I was wrong. They did, and you know what? I absolutely love them. If you’re reading this, you likely feel the same.
There’s a lot of opportunity in the daily space, but you have to be smart about how you approach the game. In this column I’m going to give you insight into my strategies for FanDuel. Of course, I also recommend you check out our DFS Lineup Optimizer tool and all of the great DFS content we offer.
Each week I’ll take you through an optimized 50-50 lineup and suggest some plays for tournaments (GPPs). To make things more interesting, I’m going to start with a $100 for 50-50s. We’ll see how I end up at the end of the season.
Here’s this week’s 50-50 lineup. My roster totals up to $60,000 and I’m going to use 10 percent of my $100 bankroll. So this week I’m going to play in five 50-50s with a $2 entry fee.
Week 1 Bankroll: $100 – $10 played
QB: Alex Smith ($6,900) vs. Tennessee
No, you’re not going to start the week off with a bang at the quarterback position, but you do get a high floor with Smith facing a shaky Titans secondary at home. A long Travis Kelce touchdown would be an added bonus.
RB: Montee Ball ($8,000) vs. Indianapolis
While he may not be a lock for the top-scoring running back of the week, Ball is a good bet to be in the Top 5. He’s in the league’s most prolific offense and faces a Colts team that ranked No. 26 versus the run last season.
