What he does best:

• Big body and has good use of hands when blocking.
• Strong, generates force and momentum when working into block.
• Already a good understanding of appropriate angles to blocks.
• Extremely efficient on double teams. Doesn’t get himself caught at line of scrimmage and can locate linebackers after he separates.
• Shows great strength in his upper body when turning defenders the direction he wants.
• Solid and consistent performances even against talented defenders.
• Very productive with what he was asked to do at Auburn.
• Fifth-highest percentage of positively graded blocks among draft class tackles in 2016.

Biggest concern:

• Little stiff in lower body, can lead to playing with a wider base causing loss of balance and subsequently loss of blocks.
• Did not play in a pro-style offense, pass protection scheme was not challenging to the tackle position.
• Lack of a variety in blocks within Auburn’s offense.
• Very favorable system that keeps defensive linemen and linebackers off balance for him to engage.
• Slower first step than other NFL caliber tackles.
• Well-coached at Auburn with limited ceiling in that regard.
• Gives up his chest at times in pass protection allowing the rusher to get the edge.

Bottom line: Leff turns in solid and consistent performances but no part of his game “wows” you. The biggest question for Leff is how much was he helped by Auburn’s scheme and how will his skill level will translate to an NFL offense. Leff shows great strength in his ability to steer defenders and a sound understanding of angles in run blocks on the first and second levels. Leff is going to need improvement in pass protection as well as learning the big picture of a pro-style offense. Hard to project how well Leff will perform in the NFL but with his overall skill level, he should get an opportunity to stick in the league.
