- With the 23rd pick of the 2017 NFL Draft, the New York Giants selected TE Evan Engram.
- Engram had a receiving grade of 89.4 last season, which ranked second among all TEs in the NCAA.
- His 2.59 yards per route run ranked first in the country in 2016.
- Engram spent a large majority of his snaps lined up as a slot receiver, the most among any tight end in the country at 73.2 percent of his snaps.
- Engram was an effective deep-threat receiving TE, his 262 yards gained on deep receptions ranking third among tight ends and his three touchdowns tied for the most.
- His run- and pass-blocking grades of 49.1 and 50.4 show he won’t add much in terms of blocking, but the Giants are looking for receiving threats.
- Giants TE Jerell Adams led the team last year with a minuscule 1.10 yards per route run. He only lined up in the slot on 20.7 percent of his snaps, which still managed to lead the Giants. Other TE Will Tye lined up a similar 20.3 percent of his snaps in the slot, but averaged just 0.61 yards per route run.
