Buffalo adds receiving help, takes Zay Jones in 2nd round

  • The Buffalo Bills traded up in the second round and used the 37th overall pick to select WR Zay Jones out of East Carolina.
  • In 2016, Jones finished with the fourth-highest overall grade among all wide receivers with an 87.8.
  • Jones led the nation in both targets (216) and receptions (158). He averaged 2.96 yards per route run, 25th in the nation.
  • Despite seeing a ridiculous 164 catchable targets, Jones only dropped six passes all season. His drop rate of 3.66 ranked fourth among receivers with at least 100 targets.
  • With the loss of Robert Woods and Marquise Goodwin this offseason, the Bills need to replace 134 of their 250 targets last season (about 54 percent). Jones can become a big-time security blanket for QB Tyrod Taylor in the Bills offense.
