Bengals could make a WR splash in the draft

  • Cincinnati WR A.J. Green netted 827 yards on 269 routes run from the outside in 2016, for an average of 3.07 yards per outside route, third in the NFL behind only Atlanta's Julio Jones (3.52) and Seattle's Doug Baldwin (3.10)
  • Bengals' No. 2 receiver Brandon LaFell managed 764 yards from 513 routes run from the outside, averaging 1.49 yards per route run, just below the league average.
  • Though Tyler Boyd wasn’t very efficient outside the slot (1.0 yards per route run), he accrued 547 yards on 426 slot routes (1.28 yards per route run), which is also just shy of the league average (1.38)
  • The Bengals are in a position where they don't need to draft a receiver early, but with potential impact players like Western Michigan's Corey Davis (3.56) and Clemson's Mike Williams (3.34) ranking inside the top 10 wide receivers in this class in terms of yards per route run, making a splash here in round one isn't out of the question.
