Deep Coverage: Week 12

Josh GordonAt ProFootballFocus we watch every snap of every game and use that data to gain an edge at fantasy football. One of the ways we use that information is to see which cornerbacks are covering which wide receivers pre-snap based on their positional alignments. This allows us to identify cornerbacks who are asked to shadow receivers around the field rather than just arbitrarily assign them the moniker of being a shutdown corner because of the perceived status and abilities. By studying these defensive tendencies we can also start to make predictions about the on-field matchups for the upcoming slate of games and use that insight to alter our fantasy projections.
