QBs Jared Goff / Ross Bowers – California Golden Bears

HC Sonny Dykes and OC Tony Franklin enter their third season in Berkeley after serving the same appointments at Louisiana Tech (2010-12). The “Bear Raid” philosophy proved to be one of the nations most-prolific after finishing 2014 with the 13th-best total offense, 6th-best passing offense, 24th-highest passing efficiency, and 10th-best scoring offense. Rather revealing in the blueprint of the attack, the offense finished with the FBS’ 47th-ranked yards per completion (YPC) average of only 12.62. A better description of the significance of this stat is that California averaged 5.13 YPC less than the top-ranked team on the list, but only a 2.60 YPC more than the 120th-worst team.
