Calvin Johnson a game-time decision in Week 10

Heading into kickoff time, a few top-tier fantasy players remain to be game-time decisions. They include: Calvin Johnson, Matt Forte, and Marshawn Lynch. The following is a Sunday morning accelerated update on all of the top fantasy-relevant injury news.

As a reminder, there are five status designations players can have: active, probable, questionable, doubtful and out. The active and out designations are self-explanatory. The probable designation signifies a player has a greater than 50 percent chance of being active for the game. Questionable means the player essentially has a 50-50 chance of playing. Doubtful means the player has less than a 25 percent chance of playing.

Players already declared out include: Kendall Wright, Vincent Jackson, Breshad Perriman, Eddie Royal, Victor Cruz, and Larry Donnell.

Players listed as probable who will likely see their usual workloads include: Peyton Manning, Johnny Manziel, Matt Cassel, Todd Gurley, DeMarco Murray, DeAngelo Williams, Latavius Murray, Jonathan Stewart, C.J. Anderson, Ronnie Hillman, Julian Edelman, Larry Fitzgerald, Amari Cooper, Dez Bryant, Willie Snead, James Jones, Travis Kelce, Jordan Cameron, Crickett Gillmore, and Julius Thomas.

These players’ injury situations warrant a closer look this morning:

Ben Roethlisberger left last Sunday’s game with a left foot injury. He suffered the classic mechanism of a Lisfranc injury.

Lisfranc injuries vary greatly by severity. The injury could affect only one of the midfoot joints, or it could affect multiple joints. A mild injury would only involve ligaments being torn, and a severe injury would involve a dislocation of the midfoot with multiple fractures.

Roethlisberger’s injury appears to be on the mild side of that spectrum. On Thursday, he was discharged from the walking boot, per Adam Schefter of ESPN. He was even able to practice limitedly on Thursday and Friday.

Despite his quick return to practice, I still highly doubt Roethlisberger will be able to play today. The stability of his midfoot, his ability to push off the foot, and his pain will all be limiting factors. So, I expect him to miss this today’s game, rest through the bye, and then return in Week 12.
