Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker own the AFC

Last week we used PFF’s advanced pass route numbers to put the NFC under the target microscope. This week in Advanced Targets we’ll turn to the AFC and examine what patterns have emerged over the first six weeks. We’ll pay special attention to players who are beginning to see their snap percentages rise and try to locate potential waiver wire additions before they become too expensive.

Baltimore Ravens

Kamar Aiken (204) and Marlon Brown (188) both lead Steve Smith (171) in routes, but the explosive veteran has over 150 more yards than the two players combined. His 2.98 yards per route is not only one of the best in the NFL this year, it’s also easily his best number since he averaged 3.82 yprr during his superhuman season of 2008. (That season is far and away the best for any starting WR during the years PFF covers.) With the extra attention following Torrey Smith’s departure, Aiken and Brown have both seen their efficiency numbers plummet. Chris Givens and Jeremy Ross added 7 targets in Week 6 but managed to turn them into only 54 yards.
