The Buffalo Bills have one of the best defenses in football. In the last two weeks they have held Peyton Manning and Aaron Rodgers, elite quarterbacks by any measure, to a combined 50% completion percentage, 358 passing yards, zero touchdowns and four interceptions. Two of the biggest – literally, they weigh a combined 634 pounds – contributors to this success have been their starting defensive tackles, Marcell Dareus (+24.1) and Kyle Williams (+21.4), our fourth and fifth ranked defensive tackles.
Dareus has excelled against the run, his +18.9 run defense grade leads all defensive tackles. He has forced 22 stops in the running game, giving him a 9.9 Run Stop Percentage, fifth-best among tackles. Dareus has also looked good getting to the quarterback, with 10 sacks and 31 total pressures giving him a respectable 6.4 Pass Rushing Productivity (PRP) grade, 21st out of 72 qualifying tackles.
Williams has provided the perfect pass rushing complement to Dareus. His +17.5 pass rush grade ranks second among all tackles, while his seven sacks and 46 total pressures give him a 10.2 PRP score, the best mark among at the position.
With Dareus and Williams playing at this level, the Bills defense can trouble any opponent.
