The Buffalo Bills defense has been one of the best in football this season. Their front seven have been a big reason for that and have duly received much of the credit, but there have been impressive performers in the secondary as well, none more so the than cornerback, Corey Graham. A Buffalo native, Graham had been something of a dependable squad player prior to becoming a Bill in 2014. His best season had come in 2012 with the Ravens when he posted a career-high +4.8 overall grade.
Graham was expected to provide cover across the secondary for the Bills, but injuries forced him to open the season as a starting corner, and he has thrived. He ranks sixth among corners with a +9.7 coverage grade, and has allowed an average of 0.89 Yards per Cover Snap, tenth-best among corners. Opposing quarterbacks have an NFL QB Rating of just 56.5 while throwing into his coverage, the seventh-best performance among corners.
That Graham combines strong coverage with an ability to defend the run (+2.0 in run defense), tackle in space (16.0 Combined Tackle Efficiency) and play either corner or safety, makes him an extremely useful player for the Bills.
