Bengals: Jeremy Hill making an impact

Jeremy Hill, the first-year running back out of LSU, looks PFF-headlinesset to make another start this weekend against the Saints, since the regular starter, Giovani Bernard, hasn’t practiced since Week 8. Asked to assume a larger role, Hill has seized the opportunity.

Hill made his first career start in Week 9 against Jacksonville, racking up 154 rushing yards, 56 of which came after contact, and a pair of touchdowns; good for a +1.3 run grade. Forcing four missed tackles, his 37.3 Elusive Rating was fifth-best among qualifying backs that week.

Hill had fewer opportunities against the Browns in Week 10, yet still posted another positive rushing grade (+0.2), despite coughing up the ball for the first time in his young career. On just 12 carries, he was able to grind out 33 yards after contact and force three missed tackles, resulting in an impressive 63.5 Elusive Rating.

Hill’s performance as a rusher, and in pass protection, (he has a perfect 100.0 Pass Blocking Efficiency), should ensure he continues to be involved in the Bengals offense once Bernard returns.

Off field concerns brought him down in the draft. The Bengals aren’t the best team to nurture good behavior. We’ll see how long he can stay out of trouble.

it odd, other than coaching and locker room, you wouldn’t think Cincinnati as having a nightlife to get people in trouble like Miami or NY.

It’s really weird that you say that because it’s such an out of date statement. Look at the dudes with sketchy history on the Bengals such as Pacman and Vontaze. The Bengals organization has actually done a great job of turning guys around.

Pac Man seems to be doing very well. And a guy that didn’t even get drafted led the league in tackles last year and is the captain of the defense.

But yeah, they have a bad track record rehabilitating players.
