Ascension Report – Week 3

hi-res-8817745aa6497c85159fc1e99aaea367_crop_northDuring the 2014 NFL season, I’ll be doing a weekly series on a select few players who could be in line for an increase in fantasy production that specific week. I’m going to try and stay away from the Peyton Mannings and Adrian Petersons of the world and instead try to focus on guys who aren’t every week starters. I will choose the players based on a several factors: matchups, injuries, reports from beat writers, and recent trends.

For the first four weeks of the season, when statistical support is at its thinnest, my predictions are going to be based more on a feel. But if you were paying attention to guys like Robert Griffin III and C.J. Spiller in the 2012 offseason and Anquan Boldin last year, there are always guys ready to start the season with a bang.

Week 2 was a very good week for the Ascension Report as four of the five highlighted players led their team in receiving. Let’s take a look at each of them before we get started with Week 3’s picks.

Gary Althiser is a diehard 49ers and San Francisco Giants fan. He feels weird talking about himself in third-person, but if you want to find him, he usually spends his free time on Twitter irrationally arguing about Alex Smith, or sobbing after NFC championship games. @NFLGary
