Each week I’ll comb through the options at each position to bring you my picks for the players with the best combination of safety and upside over a wide price range. These are guys you’ll use in cash games for the most part, but there’s nothing wrong with slotting a couple into your tournament lineups as well for stability.
Quarterback
Andy Dalton $6000: He’s baaaaaack. Dalton is PFF’s most efficient QB is back and still underpriced. The matchup with Pittsburgh is a historically low scoring game but with Big Ben expected back and Dalton playing the best football of his career, I see a shootout coming.
While I like Roethlisberger and his receivers in tournaments, I think Dalton is a safe cash game play. His 14:2 TD:INT ratio is right there with Brady (through six games) and Rodgers but he’s priced so much lower. He’s got a full cadre of weapons around him, including Giovanni Bernard. I am playing Marvin Jones a ton this weekend—at $4200 he’s been getting a ton of targets (20 in the last two games) and gets an easy cornerback matchup with Antwon Blake, part of Pittsburgh’s worst rated pass coverage unit.
