Advanced Touches – Week 11

Welcome to a special Thanksgiving version of Advanced Touches where contrarian owners of Doug Martin and C.J. Spiller are thankful they avoided the temptation to take a first round back. Conversely, BenJarvus Green-Ellis, Jonathan Stewart, and Michael Turner owners give thanks for fundamental physics: everything not prohibited is compulsory. Week 11 saw the trio each record a blind squirrel touchdown.

In a week where running backs struggled mightily, we start with the touch leaders.

Week 11 wasn’t particularly kind to the high volume runners. 64% of the backs with 20-plus touches averaged less than 4.0 yards per carry. The preseason Big 3 were all held below 3.5 yards per. Arian Foster, Ray Rice, and LeSean McCoy are now combining to average 4.06 yards per carry on the season. Resilient in the face of these struggles, their prowess in the passing game and near the goal line has given them incredibly high floors. On the other hand, only Foster is truly carrying his fantasy squads.
