6 contrarian plays for Week 13 CFB DFS

While most of us are settling in for a long Thanksgiving weekend, college football teams are preparing for their last regular season games. For most teams, this will be the final game before their bowl game. Other teams will be trying to lock up a spot in their conference championship games and a select few will be trying to make their case for the college football playoffs.

This week is an odd week for DFS games in that there is a heavy slate on both Friday and Saturday. There are great plays both days, if you stick to finding value where you can and hitting on the premium players. In fact, with this being the last week for many teams, most of the top passers and rushers will be available this weekend and will allow you one last chance to load your rosters with the best players in the country. Luke Falk and Brandon Doughty headline the Friday slate of Quarterbacks, Deshaun Watson and Marquise Williams will be featured on the early Saturday games, and Baker Mayfield, Jared Goff, and Chad Kelly will all be featured on the late Saturday games.

With all the big named talent playing this weekend, it’s more important than ever to find those contrarian plays that will set your lineup apart. Remember to tailor your rosters to the game your playing, and make sure you have plenty of high-floor plays to stabilize your lineups.

It’s also worth noting that just because all of the big named quarterbacks and running backs will be available doesn’t mean you need to feature them to have a winning lineup. There are plenty of mid-tiered value plays at each position that you can load your rosters with on both DraftKings and FanDuel. See our plays and fades for players at multiple price points that will allow you the flexibility to build your rosters with either the elite talent, or with more of that second tier. The goal is to score the most points by finding players who will net big yards and score, and the below players all are have a great chance to do just that this weekend.

Plays

QB Bram Kohlhausen– TCU – (DraftKings $5,200, FanDuel $5,800)

A few weeks ago, many would have pegged this game as one that might not only decide the Big 12 champion, but also the Heisman award winner. Then injuries to Trevone Boykin, Seth Russell, and Jarrett Stidham threw all that off, although Baylor could still win the Big 12 if they win and Oklahoma loses. Last week, Kohlhausen stepped in for Foster Sawyer and threw for 122 yards and two touchdowns in the second half against a good Oklahoma defense. Assuming Boykin sits, which it looks like he will, Kohlhausen is a great low cost, high upside option that allows plenty of roster flexibility for the remainder of your roster. Make sure you follow QB Trevone Boykin’s status leading up the the game Friday night before locking Kohlhausen in to your rosters.
