Now for some disclaimers:

– The overall ratings only tell part of the story and feature no weighting for specific facets of play. For more in-depth analysis, sign up for our PFF Premium Statistics.

– All ratings and snap counts are from the 2012 regular season only and ratings between players of two different positions are not meant to be compared.

– Sorting players by position and ranking won’t necessarily get you the same order we’ve used in some of our articles. That’s because we’ve done more to put the numbers into context. The grades require intelligence applied to them.

– This list of players consists only of players who ended the season on a roster in 2012 and are now free agents, or players who have been released during the offseason; players that are exclusive rights free agents are not included.

– If you spot any errors please contact Nathan Jahnke on twitter and he’ll set about fixing it.

so I can’t make heads or tails from your rating system please explain. For instance Reggie Bush -2.6 what exactly does that mean in comparison with other ratings? Woodhead +10.4 and Jennings -5 what do these numbers reflect?

  • Peter Kapusi88

I really like this database. I think some plus information would be useful like the previous contract of the player or the actual value (in your esimation) in salary what the player could actually sign in the future.

  • Jayd78

I really wish you broke it down to DE, NT, RT, LT,etc..

  • DeepThreat

Request: Could you also add a list that rates all of the players overall with sortable columns for position and team ?

  • CaptainPike

Hello, I’m looking at this site for the first time, and I am looking forward to examining the numbers. My own system is to GLANCE first at the numbers and to SCRUTINIZE second. And so, similarly, with a simple profound answer, can you tell me why Reggie Bush is rated so low?

  • CaptainPike

“Here is a link to the explanation to our grading, hopefully it helps. https://www.profootballfocus.c…”

I’ve just read it- so plus and minus qualitative increments are “attached” to player performances over and above simple quantitative stats such as Total Rushing Yards.

How Danny Woodhead would have a +10.4 rating and Reggie Bush would be a -2.6 will prove to be a fascinating examination indeed!

  • CaptainPike

I’m trying to find PFF overall rating per position [best QB’s in order, best DT’s in order, etc.] for this season. Is that available on the site, or only to subscribers? Thanks.

  • LightsOut85

any PFF thouhts/opinions on Vollmer being a team’s LT? Only 5 games (where he played more than a few snaps) and that’s back in his rookie year in 09, but he performed very well then.

  • Bamabucs

What free agents do you experts think Bucs should be wise to target this off season?

  • Hiness3

clady needs to be a bear but no chance

  • http://www.facebook.com/colin.weaver Colin William Weaver

Agree or disagree: the 49ers would do better to pick up Jairus Byrd than trade for Darrelle Revis.

    • rensmacneill

Byrd is not going to leave Buffalo. Will get strong franchise tag consideration. So to answer your question, i guess they should go hard after Revis. You guys do have 1 zillion draft picks.

      • http://www.facebook.com/colin.weaver Colin William Weaver

Alright, how about George Wilson then?

        • rensmacneill

The Bills just cut him, which would make him a good option i guess. Would not be too expensive.

  • rensmacneill

Unfortunately  Hiness3, Clady isn’t going anywhere. I hope the Bears go after Levitre or maybe even Long, but his recent fall-off is alarming. In the draft i really hope we can trade up for Chance Warmack.

  • roguepatriot

    Safety $6,916,000

Expect Byrd to hold out to week 10.
