Rawls and Lacy both considered starters by Pete Carroll

  • Seattle Seahawks running backs Thomas Rawls and Eddie Lacy are both considered starters in the Seahawks backfield by HC Pete Carroll. Carroll answered, “you start with those two guys” when asked about his lead running back preference.
  • Rawls earned a grade of 81.7 in 2016, 10th highest among all qualifying running backs. While his total rush attempts (147) stayed exactly the same from 2015 to 2016, Rawls saw drops in yards per attempt (5.6 to 3.7), yards after contact per attempt (3.1 to 2.3), and missed tackles forced (26 to 22).
  • Lacy had an overall grade of 82.8 last season (on 166 total snaps), and has now earned a grade above 80 in each of his four seasons thus far. Among running backs with at least 70 carries in 2016, Lacy averaged the fourth-highest yards after contact per attempt (3.4).
