  • The Arizona Cardinals have announced that wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald has agreed to a one-year contract extension that will keep the veteran in Arizona until the 2018 season. While the signing does not guarantee Fitzgerald will play next year, it gives certainty for the organization that Fitzgerald won’t wear another team’s uniform next season.
  • Since 2006, Fitzgerald has seen 1,615 targets and amassed 12,878 receiving yards for the Cardinals (both the highest marks among receivers in that span) at an average of 1.87 yards per route run, which ties him with Randy Moss for 24th among the 68 receivers with at least 500 targets since 2006.
  • While Fitzgerald’s regular season numbers are impressive, Fitzgerald’s play in the postseason is what arguably elevates him above many receivers of both past and present. In his nine playoff appearances, Fitzgerald has racked up 945 receiving yards at an average of 2.88 yards per route run, both of which rank third among 82 receivers with at least 20 targets in the postseason since 2006.
  • The 34-year-old receiver has been a bright spot for a struggling Cardinals offense this season, and leads all Cardinals skill position players in offensive snaps played (604), targets (84), receiving yards (677) and touchdowns (3), while his PFF overall grade of 83.0 ranks 11th among 114 qualifying receivers. With no sign of slowing down, Fitzgerald has shown no reason why he can’t continue his success into next year’s campaign.
