Staying on top of injuries throughout the week, and especially on Sunday mornings, is one of the easiest ways to maintain an edge in fantasy football. Outside of, you know, just making sure you don’t have inactive players in your starting lineup, it’s important to understand how one injury can greatly impact the fantasy potential of other skill position players within a game.

Lucky for you, this weekly series is here to help. Rather than just frantically refreshing each team’s injury report, I’ll do the heavy lifting each Saturday night and update injuries and provide analysis once inactives are released and early game-time decisions finalized on Sunday mornings.

Updates/Analysis

Sterling Shepard, WR, New York Giants – Inactive – Shepard is out, dealing with migraines. This is a substantial loss for a team already devastated by receiver injuries. Evan Engram should be in store for a heavy workload this week.

Tyron Smith, LT, Dallas Cowboys – Inactive – With Smith out for the Cowboys, Prescott should be downgraded slightly. The Eagles lead the league in pressures per dropback, and, well, look at what Adrian Clayborn did against Smith’s backups last week.

Alshon Jeffery, WR, Philadelphia Eagles – Active – As expected, Jeffery is active for Week 11 against a Dallas defense surrendering the fifth-most fantasy points per game to outside wide receivers. He’s a strong mid-range WR2 this week.

Leonard Fournette, RB, Jacksonville Jaguars – Active – Fournette hates the cold weather, is less than 100 percent healthy, and draws a brutal matchup against a Cleveland defense ranking second-best in yards per carry allowed (3.1), but he is active. You’re starting him this week, but maybe temper expectations a little bit.

Dion Sims, TE, Chicago Bears – Inactive – With Sims out, Adam Shaheen should draw the start again for the Bears, but isn’t worth a start in your fantasy leagues.

Terrelle Pryor/Ryan Grant/Brian Quick, WR, Washington Redskins – Inactive – With so many receivers out against a New Orleans defense also without their starting slot cornerback (Kenny Vaccaro), I’m expecting a big game from Jamison Crowder, who has 24 targets over his last two games.

Jordan Reed, TE, Washington Redskins – Inactive – With Reed out, Davis gets a massive boost. His volume has been incredible as of late, ranking fifth among all receivers in expected fantasy points over the past two weeks. The matchup will be tough, however, against a Saints defense that has allowed just one tight end to reach even 30 yards against them.

Breshad Perriman, WR, Baltimore Ravens – Inactive – Perriman and his seven catches on 27 targets are out for Week 11. This doesn’t move the needle much for me, but is a very slight upgrade for the entire offense, as they’re no longer going to be wasting downs trying to get Perriman the ball.

Aaron Jones/Ty Montgomery, RB, Green Bay Packers – Inactive – With both Jones and Montgomery out, Jamaal Williams feels locked in for 18-ish carries and a handful of targets this week. I have him as a mid-range RB2.

Andre Ellington, RB, Arizona Cardinals – Inactive – With Ellington a healthy scratch, I think it’s safe to pencil Adrian Peterson in for a handful of extra targets this week.

Will Fuller, WR, Houston Texans – Inactive – With Fuller out, I’m bullish on Bruce Ellington’s prospects up against an Arizona defense allowing the fourth-most fantasy points per game to opposing slot wide receivers (where Ellington runs 67 percent of his routes). Ellington has seen seven targets in back to back weeks, while DeAndre Hopkins should have his hands full against Patrick Peterson.

Allen Hurns, WR, Jacksonville Jaguars – Inactive – With Hurns out, this may be the electrifying Dede Westbrook’s coming-out party. He’s worth a speculative add in deeper leagues.
