Power Rankings: Week 9
Another week, another new leader atop our weekly power rankings.
As seems to be the case in this wacky year in the NFL, whenever you feel confident enough in someone to declare them No. 1, they go and stink the joint up and you lose at least a degree of that faith you have in them.
Step forward, New England Patriots, who drop in the rankings after a display where they were overpowered by a rapidly improving Browns team. That game was just part of the good, the bad and the ugly we have seen this past week.
Power Rankings: Week 8
Football’s Chic Geek Khaled Elsayed weighs in with his 1-32, seeing the good, bad and ugly in every team. (Last week’s rankings are in parentheses)
1. New England Patriots: 6-1 (last week, 4)
THE GOOD: Forget the Tom Brady-for-MVP-hype for a second. The real shock is how well the defense is playing and especially some of the rookies. Four started on Sunday and their played ranged from good (Jermaine Cunningham) to great (Devin McCourty and Brandon Spikes).
THE BAD: Rookies eventually hit a wall, right?
THE UGLY: That hoodie worn by a menacing fellow walking the sidelines. So 2006.

Power Rankings: Oh yeah, we’ve got ‘em
The season is well and truly under way, and even in this crazy NFL season we’re starting to see it take shape. With that in mind, Pro Football Focus’ resident Chic Geek, Khaled Elsayed, is putting the shame of his weekly predictions behind him and moving on to ranking the 32 teams of the NFL.
Here’s a look at the good, the bad and the ugly the NFL has to offer.
1. Pittsburgh Steelers (5-1)
THE GOOD: They’re making life very difficult for quarterbacks right now. It’s just tough to score points on them.
THE BAD: How long until Big Ben shakes off his funk?
THE UGLY: Injuries. They crippled the Steelers last year and they’re threatening to cripple them this year. Losing Aaron Smith hits an already thin defensive line. Read the rest of this entry »
