Running back David Wilson is one of the high risk high reward running backs that you’ll often find split opinions on. He has the ability to take any ball the distance of the football field and possesses impressive balance. But with that big play ability come concerns about ball security, as fumbles were a bit of a problem while at Virginia Tech. Also, it remains to be seen how well he can block, which will have a large effect on early playing time.
The situation in New York may just be what David Wilson needs to contribute early. Sure, he has some fumbling issues but lucky for him, so did Ahmad Bradshaw. While Bradshaw cut down his fumbles to 1 last season from 7 in 2010, it could either mean that Bradshaw could slip back into the doghouse or (the more positive angle) that the coaches can fix the problem for Wilson too. Even so, Wilson is a great change of pace back to Bradshaw and should see 10-15 touches every game. The Super Bowl champion New York Giants just added a potential Jamaal Charles-type of back to their roster.
