Fantasy: IDP Waiver Wire – Week 17
Whether you’ve lost players to injury, are looking for a bye week fill in, or simply looking to upgrade your IDP’s, the IDP Waiver Wire is here to help you know who to look for in your leagues waiver claims.
CB Aaron Williams – Buffalo Bills
In cornerback required leagues Aaron Williams, who missed 7 games in the middle of the season with a collarbone injury, looks like a player with upside heading into week 17. Although he has a -2.5 grade on the season, his week 3 toasting by Tom Brady (-4.2) distorts his grade, and he has actually played quite well (+1.7) over the other 7 games. The last three games have shown what Williams can so as a starter and he has recorded 14 solo tackles (one for a loss), a forced fumble and an interception. Like most rookies he gets a fair bit of attention from opposing QBs and he averages 3.9 targets a game, and after completing 5/5 against him last time they played, expect Brady to look to throw in his direction again this week.
LB Brooks Reed – Houston Texans
Another rookie who has won a starting role this year is Brooks Reed. Reed became the starter at LOLB in week 6 and has been a little inconsistent with 4 positive grades, 3 negative and 3 neutral, but a +5.1 week 16 performance builds nicely on the 6 sacks he recorded in a 5 week spell earlier in the season. He may not have added another sack on Thursday, but he did have his best pass-rushing game of the year (+4.2) as he charted 5 hurries and 1 hit, after 3 hurries the week before. If you are looking for a player with high-scoring potential in a week 17 championship clash, Reed’s a boom-or-bust blitzer that is getting hot at the right time.
DT/DE Muhammad Wilkerson– New York Jets
The third rookie getting a mention in this week’s IDP Waiver Wire is Jets defensive lineman Muhammad Wilkerson. Wilkerson has been a starter all season and seen 575 snaps, the most among Jets defensive ends, and has finally started to have more of a statistical impact in the last few games, getting a single sack against both the Eagles and the Giants. This week he gets a great match-up with a Jacksonville O-Line that has allowed 31 sacks, the second most in the league, and in particular LT Eugene Monroe who has given up 5 sacks in the past 5 weeks.
S Reed Doughty – Washington Redskins
Reed Doughty is the epitome of a waiver wire pick-up as he seems destined to fill in for the oft injured LaRon Landry and be everyone’s favourite bye-week fill in. Well now it’s week 17 and if you are one of the unfortunate fantasy owners to need a replacement this late in the year, Doughty can be a saviour once again. In his 10 starts this year he has averaged 6.1 total tackles a game, only a slight drop from the 6.4 total tackles a game he averaged last year in 9 starts. Coming off the back of 1o total tackles last week, Doughty can be the dependable option you turn to to get you over the finish line.
